The Hellboy Dinosaur
Dinosaur
bones were discovered near the Oldman River in Alberta, Canada in
2005. Paleontologists at Alberta’s Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology
have studied them. They were found to be part of the “Regaliceratops”
species, which means “royal horned face” in Latin, according to
Science Watch. And, the paleontologists recently found that this
is a new species and a cousin to the Triceratops. Triceratops was
a three- horned dinosaur.
It is known
that Regaliceratops lived 70 million years ago. Regaliceratops belonged
to the Chasmosaurine group of dinosaurs, which had a simple neck
frill. Compared with other dinosaurs, Regaliceratops had a bigger
and more elaborate neck frill. This frill had five large angled
plates stretching outward and also a spike on its nose.
It also had one long horn and two short ones near its nose and eyes.
People call it “Hellboy” because they think that the dinosaur looks
like the comic book and movie character, who also has horns.

Regaliceratops는 7천만 년 전에 살았던 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
Regaliceratops는 평범한 목 주름이 있는 Chasmosaurine 공룡과에 속했습니다.
다른 공룡들과 비교하여, Regaliceratops는 더 크고 정교한 목 주름을 갖고 있었습니다.
이 주름은 바깥으로 뻗어 있는, 다섯 개의 큰 각이 있는 딱지를 갖고 있으며 코에는 못같이 뾰족한 것을 가지고 있었습니다.
그것은 코와 눈 주위에 하나의 긴 뿔과 두 개의 짧은 뿔을 갖고 있었습니다.
사람들은 그 공룡을 만화와 영화에 나오는 뿔이 난 캐릭터를 닮았다고 생각하여 “Hellboy (헬보이)”라고 부릅니다.
